I love Charlie Chaplin

If you havn't seen this movie you better go out and rent it now. Charlie Chaplin The Great Dictator. Its a sataire on Hitler and WWII. Things you should know: He made the movie before the world was over so therefore he didn't know how it would end. It sounds like he is speeking german but actually he isnt, he is just saying things that sounded german to him, which makes it hilarious. My friend Nicole who is german let me borrow it.

This Chaplin remids me of an essay by E. M. Forster, which he wrote in 1938, published in his book "The Cheers for Democracy." In it, he warn against the rise of Fascism, but mostly he cautions against the admiration of "Great Men"... and much in the same means as Chaplin. Forster also says (His essay is called "What I Believe") that he "does not believe in belief." As an aetheist, rather, he believes in the "sanctity of personal relationships," and adds that "if I were asked to betray either my friend or my country, I hope that I would have the guts to betray my country." That whole notion of our happiness and sanity being nurtured in friendship rather than Causes. Anyway, maybe a connection between two friends in outlook.
Best to you, Annie.
